When your pelvis needs to move, it can produce almost any pattern of hip motion. The two knobby bones where your low back meets your pelvis will be asymmetric. When your pelvis moves, your WHOLE pelvis moves, so it’s not possible to tell which bone needs to move in which direction. To remedy this, you just move each joint in multiple ways and your pelvis will respond by moving better.

Step 1: Place your ankle on your opposite knee and use your hip muscle to untwist your hip, pushing your ankle into you knee. Hold for 2 seconds and perform twice on each side.

Step 2: Place your hand on your thigh and use your hip muscles to lift your leg up into your hand. Hold for 2 seconds and perform twice on each side.**

Step 3: Place a ball between your knees. Lift your hips up and give it one good squeeze.

**If your pelvis needs to make a click/pop/clunk, this step often isn’t sufficient. Ask someone to give a good tug on each leg if it’s ineffective to do this step yourself. In other words, if you move your pelvis and when you’re done you STILL need to move your pelvis, have someone tug on your legs.
